Annoying bug with ARAY and SPRK timing

I found a strange glitch that occurs when BRAY is shot at SPRKed METL.

So you know how INST-powered BRAY is supposed to pass straight through conductors? I discovered it doesn't pass through if METL is already being SPRKed, more specifically if the BRAY hits it in the same tick as its Life resets to 4, or 0... not completely sure what's causing it. It's been screwing with my creations, so I'm really looking forward to when it's fixed.

    Also, I've got a demo in a save I made, search "id:2487470".

    P.S. Running TPT 94.1 on Windows 10

This isn't a bug, the idea with INST-ARAY is that conductive materials are transparent to the beam it emits. This explains why conductors in cooldown, which are not conductive, are also not transparent.

This phenomenon is due to something that's is really close to the core of spark mechanics and it's impossible to predict how many saves rely on it. The only solution guaranteed to not break old saves would be to introduce a compatibility option that would enable new INST-ARAY behaviour for new saves. Seeing as how unnoticed this has gone until now though, it's probably not worth the effort.

I personally wouldn't change this, and I doubt other devs would, but who knows. Until that happens though, you could try either to get your timings to work around this (most people do this) or use something else to sink sparks from multiple sources (everyone who doesn't work around the problem with more snappy timing does this). Have you considered INWR-CRAY (possibly with life set to 3 if you need the resulting spark to propagate really quickly)?

Side note: lol I tried id:248747 first (note the missing 0 at the end) and got "marijuana plantation" from 2011.

XD That's hillarious... must've been a bit confusing!

Huh, I didn't know you could do that with CRAY, but it'll definitely come in handy. Thanks so much for the tip!
