Cannot test now, pls respond

I'm just curious, could we simulate a gas, a powder,  a solid and a liquid as a single element using a powder for the base?

     - A powder: you know

     - A liquid: giving it random x velocity

     - A solid: making its vx ans vy fixed at 0

     - A gas: giving it random velocities?

I cannot test now, since I'm on my phone, but as the title says, pls respond.

    Thanks!

Tried doing that, have the base state be liquid, made it be solid on certain conditions(easy) and made it be a gas, but when its vx and vy were set every frame, the gas would not be affected by gravity or pressure, then, setting it every 2 frames didnt seem good enough, but thats just my opinion :P

Though I never tried doing a liquid like that, it might actually work.
